In modern life, we all use electrical energy on a daily basis both in industry and in household applications. The reliability and safety of electrical networks largely depend on protective devices such as circuit breakers. They are widely used and differ in their purpose, design, and electrical parameters. The SVA-3 device is perfectly suited for professional testing of circuit breakers. This device has a number of advantages: compactness, small dimensions and weight, ease of operation combined with high functionality.
The device records the current value and the tripping time of the tested circuit breaker. Structurally, the device consists of a control unit, a test transformer, an additional external measuring transformer, and a set of flexible copper bus conductors.
The operating principle of the device is based on regulating the power in the primary circuit of the power transformer and, accordingly, regulating the output current flowing through the tested circuit breaker. Power regulation can be carried out either by means of an external voltage regulator or by using a built-in thyristor regulator.
Despite the small size of the device, it is capable of providing a maximum current through the tested device of up to 3 kA and registering current in the range from 20 A to 3300 A, while the time measurement and recording range is from 0.002 s to 99,999 s.
The control unit has a front panel designed to control the testing process and display the test results. In the center of the front panel there is a graphic display with four control buttons located to the right of the display. The operator panel is intended for setting the operating modes of the device and displaying textual and graphical information about the operating mode, as well as the measured current values and tripping time. The control buttons on the operator panel are used to select the operating mode, the current measurement range, the logic for capturing and displaying the measured tripping time values, and for timer configuration. Each button contains text symbols indicating its function.
In the lower center of the front panel there are regulators for the test current generated by the device. A fine adjustment knob is provided for precise setting of the test current. In the lower right corner of the front panel there is the main control button “Test Current ON/OFF”. Pressing this button sequentially turns the generation of test current at the output terminals of the unit on or off.
All these features together ensure convenient and easy operation of the SVA-3 device, making it attractive and competitive among similar devices from other manufacturers.
